QUICK RELEASE in partnership with Erebus

Erebus Introduces a Unique and Affordable Field Watch with a Transforming 24-Hour Dial Complication

For Erebus, the Australian watch brand founded in 2022, building a great watch is not enough. According to founders Jody Musgrove and Steven Parker, the aim is clear: to make the “best made watches, with the best specifications, at the best prices.” With the release of the Erebus Twenty-Four, that philosophy is put into practice.

At first glance, the watch appears to be a fairly standard field-style watch. A brushed steel case and clear Arabic numerals keep the design straightforward, but the real magic of the Twenty-Four happens at midday when the numerals switch from a standard 12-hour dial to now showing 13 through 24.

Traditionally favored in military and aviation contexts, 24-hour displays eliminate the ambiguity of AM and PM by charting the full day in a single sweep from 1 to 24. While most examples relied on fixed 24-hour dials, mechanisms that physically transform the display have remained uncommon. But with the Erebus Twenty-Four, the watchmakers are bringing this quite rare feature back into the general marketplace and adding new attention to an otherwise erstwhile complication, made possible by a custom-modified Miyota 9039 series automatic movement that physically changes the hour numerals twice per day using a customized date-style disc.

As with many Erebus models, the brand offers an array of choices to provide a range of styles for customers. The Twenty-Four is available in two case sizes, 38mm and 40mm, with each offered in ten dial options. The sector dial variants come in black, green, brown, white, red, purple, and blue. Alternate dial options are also available in black, including Erebus Black, Erebus White, and a more stylized Contour dial. But, no matter the color or style chosen, the watch is completed with a color-matched leather strap.

Across the range, the Twenty-Four is fitted with flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and BGW9 Super-LumiNova for low-light visibility. Water resistance is rated at 50 or 100 meters depending on the model, and each watch is delivered with a branded case, warranty card, and two-year international warranty.

The Twenty-Four is available to pre-order at $499 plus shipping plus taxes, with delivery expected in October. For more information on Erebus or the Twenty-Four, visit erebuswatches.com.
