Fortis Expands the Marinemaster M-44 with New DLC Models
Both watches share the same Marinemaster M-44 DNA, but each variant has its own personality. Gravity Black leans into a fully monochrome look, with the dark case and dial reinforcing the instrument-like character of the watch. Black Resin introduces subtle gold-tone accents that add contrast against the otherwise black case and dial.
At the center of the update is the case itself. For the first time in the Marinemaster line, Fortis applies Swiss Made Dianoir® DLC coating to the 44mm stainless steel case. The diamond-like carbon treatment gives the surface a hardness of around 4,500 Vickers, roughly 20 times harder than standard stainless steel.
Beyond the coating, the rest of the Marinemaster formula remains intact. The watch retains 500 meters of water resistance along with the Fortis Lock System® that secures the bezel in place. The dial continues the collection’s focus on clarity, with diamond-cut hands that catch the light from multiple angles to keep the time easy to read in demanding conditions.
Powering the Marinemaster M-44 DLC is the COSC-certified manufacture calibre Werk 11, developed with Kenissi, a manufacturer that has built a reputation for producing robust and highly precise automatic movements (and counts Breitling and Bell & Ross and some of its big-name partners). With Werk 11, Fortis joins that company. The movement offers a 70-hour power reserve and features variable inertia regulation along with a reinforced bridge construction designed to improve shock resistance and long-term stability.
