It’s easy to understand the world, particularly the world of watches, in terms of categories. There are sports watches, and there are dress watches. But this dichotomy leaves a space in between in which there is great potential. Munich-based independent brand Rosenbusch aims to fill that void with its newest collection: Horizon. Like all Rosenbusch watches, Horizon is manufactured in Germany and represents the point where land meets sky, where sport meets dress – where versatility trumps all. A closer look at the new lineup shows just how Rosenbusch accomplishes this.
The New Rosenbusch Horizon Seamlessly Blends Sport and Dress
The 39.5mm wide, 46mm long case of the Horizon could be distantly described as hexagonal but is decidedly elegant thanks to its soft edges. This graceful design approach carries over to the mid case, which, alongside the watch’s sapphire crystal, is curved. Thinness is clearly a priority here, and the Horizon ranges from a svelte 8.1mm to only 9.8mm at its thickest point. Despite its dress watch-like characteristics so far, however, Horizon is up to the task at handling the elements in day-to-day wearing; water resistant is a stout 100 meters, and Rosenbusch is offering four distinct flavors in the collection.
Black Pearl is the most minimal Horizon configuration with a Musou Black dial void of any numerals (or even text for that matter). It soaks up 99.5% of light and evokes the mystery of inner and outer space. Canvas White, on the opposite spectrum, offers a beautifully-subtle linen dial and clean Arabic numerals that are perfect for everyday wear. Copper Sun is perhaps the most eye-catching color of the bunch, and its brushed dial complements the simpler hour markers. Lastly, Urban Blue offers a unique stepped dial and is paired with a denim strap to capture the essence of city life. All four watches are powered by the hand-wound Sellita SW210, which has been regulated to +/- 7 seconds a day. They are also all paired with custom 16mm deployant clasps for comfort.
Horizon represents a special category of watches, one that cannot be merely categorized as overtly sporty or dressy. This intentional blurring of the lines, while still providing high-quality specifications and durability, makes for a timepiece that can be enjoyed any way the wearer wants. Versatility is the ultimate vision for the Rosenbusch Horizon, and only time will tell just how far the world takes these watches. Exclusively on Kickstarter, the new Rosenbusch Horizon is available for €875 ($916.57), 30% off the retail price of €1,250 ($1309.39). Learn more about Rosenbusch and the new Horizon collection here.
