The Todd Snyder x Timex Marlin in Olive is the Best One Yet

When the Timex Marlin first hit shelves back in 2017, it was an immediate hit. And honestly, we weren’t at the least bit surprised. Timex has a whole lot of cache with watch lovers — it’s a storied brand, after all, with a history deeply rooted in the American watchmaking narrative (who doesn’t fondly remember Timex’s legendary “it takes a licking and keeps on ticking” campaign?). So when the brand put out the Marlin — a proper mechanical watch based on a piece from their archives — well, it was easy to love.

They’ve since iterated on that initial release, riding the wave of popularity to include a black-dialed variant and a series of larger-cased automatic Marlins that aren’t bad, but don’t quite have the same charm of their more diminutive, true-to-vintage siblings. Today, in collaboration with menswear designer Todd Snyder, Timex is launching the smaller mechanical Marlin in Olive.

The watch is essentially the Marlin we already know. It measures 34mm across, features a Chinese mechanical movement, a big acrylic crystal, and classic ‘60s styling. This time around, the dial is rendered in a beautiful sunburst green they’re calling olive, but I’d argue that it’s a touch more vibrant than olive. Regardless, it’s a pleasant color, and accenting that green are gold-tone numerals. The stainless steel case is rendered in gold-tone as well.

The watch is now available direct from Todd Snyder’s online store, and will be available in person tomorrow at the grand opening of the brand’s Liquor Store in NYC. Todd Snyder
