First of all, who doesn’t like dogs? And if you’re reading this, you already love watches. So, smush those two joys together, add a talented artist to the mix, and you have Guillaume’s @dogsontime. Guillaume illustrates watches that we hold near and dear, and he finds ways to incorporate a dog (perhaps even your pet) to the image. He recently painted my buddy Bryan’s Breitling Chronomat, featuring an appearance from Pawdon Ramsay, looking judgy as ever. Sometimes he does illustrations just for the fun of it, like Snoopy smooching a Bamford GMT, or a wonderful tribute post he did for Lydia Winters and Vu Bui, hosts of the This Watch Life podcast. Guillaume’s artwork is vibrant, and he adds a tremendous amount of positivity to the community through the art he shares. Michael is an incredible watch photographer, let’s get that out of the way. But in a sea of fantastic photography, he stands out. His colors and compositions are put together with care. Often matching or carefully choosing items with contrasting hues, makes for dynamic shots that really show off the watches he’s highlighting. But I also personally know Michael as the King of Watch Plonking (#lazilyplonked). Don’t feel bad if you don’t know what that is…I didn’t know until I asked, or maybe I’m just old. Anyway, plonking! Plonking is when you set something down carelessly. And watch plonking is…well you get it. Michael makes it seem like he’s “lazily” plonking his watches down on a tree branch or an old rusty trash can, but I’d argue that he has a meticulous eye as the palette and oftentimes the surface texture was obviously well-examined before said plonking occurred. On top of it all, he’s a genuinely nice guy if you care to take time out to chat with him.
