“Watches, Stories, and Gear” is a weekly roundup of some our favorite watch content from Worn & Wound, great stories from around the web, and cool gear that we’ve got our eye on.
This week’s installment is brought to you by Mido Watches.
In 2018, Mido is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and to honor that momentous occasion the storied Swiss brand is bringing back numerous iconic watches from its back catalog. One such revival is the new Baroncelli 100th Anniversary 2118 Black. The Baroncelli 2118 is one of three watches in a series celebrating the Baroncelli line, one known for its understated elegance, subtle design flourishes, and exceptional value. The 2118 imagines a bold, futuristic evolution for the range, combining all the aforementioned qualities with a new, sportier design. The 38-millimeter steel case is rendered in black PVD and the dial is anthracite with a sunray finish. A slight pop of color appears in the hand at the small-seconds sub-dial, adding to the watch’s overall sportier feel.
Powering the watch is the ETA 2825-2, a variation of the 2824 that allows for a small-seconds complication. It’s adjusted to three positions and offers 38 hours of power reserve. The 2825-2 is made visible through an open case back.
The Baroncelli 100th Anniversary 2118 Black is currently available for $1,260. Learn more here.
