Over the weekend, the @Seikowatchusa Instagram account teased the latest addition to their Prospex range, and it’s awesome by all accounts. The new Ref. SPB105 builds on the Prospex Diver 200m collection first launched at Baselworld 2018. Based on the 6159-7001 diver, this collection borrows the general case and dial design of that influential watch, changing just a handful of features along the way. The range has seen additional references since that initial release, among them the super-cool “Ninja” variant designed with and sold through Topper Jewelers and the “Blue Hole” limited edition.

What we have here is essentially a new dial color, but boy does it pack a lot of punch. It’s a deep green with gold accents on the markers and hands — a winning combination that I’ve recently warmed up to after seeing more brands pulling it off well (e.g. Lorier and Grand Seiko).
One of the best things about this family of watches is the way it reinterprets the case of the 6159. It has been streamlined, and on the wrist it makes for an extremely comfortable watch.
The retail is $1,050 on a bracelet, and it’s expected to be released this fall. Seiko USA
