AVI-8 Introduces the CVRT 3775A – an Accessible Spin on the Technical Tool Watch
in partnership with

Pilot watch, dive watch, field watch—what happens when performance and versatility must coexist? Introducing the AVI-8 CVRT 3775A (pronounced “covert”).

No bells. No whistles. No compromise. The AVI-8 CVRT 3775A is a purpose-built instrument engineered by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. Every component prioritizes function, durability, and comfort. Its hard-coated stainless-steel case measures 37.75mm wide, 46mm lug-to-lug, and 11mm thick, achieving a balanced presence on the wrist. Angular lugs secure the case comfortably, while a conical mid-case profile reduces visual height. A rugged two-piece bezel with a knurled “bumper” edge enhances grip and protection. Completing the case architecture are a four o’clock crown for ergonomic operation and a flat sapphire crystal for maximum scratch resistance. The result is a compact, 100-meter water-resistant design that combines discreet styling with technical precision.

Legibility and accuracy drive the CVRT’s dial architecture. The matte-black surface eliminates glare, while raised C3 Super-LumiNova, chosen for its outstanding brightness, numerals and tapered batons, executed in a technical sans-serif typeface, ensure clarity in all lighting conditions. A raised chapter ring provides precise indexing to 1/5th of a second, with differentiated line weights for each interval and numerals at 15, 30, 45, and 60 for rapid reference. Between four and five o’clock, a recessed date window integrates seamlessly without disturbing visual balance. Branding is intentionally minimal, limited to “AVI-8 CVRT” at 12 o’clock. Lume-filled hands with exact marker alignment further enhance legibility: modified alpha hour and minute hands convey strength and precision, while the red-tipped seconds hand provides immediate visual tracking.

Ergonomics extends to the strap system. The CVRT 3775A includes two custom options: a matte-black rubber strap and a durable nylon mil-strap. The fitted rubber strap seamlessly continues the case’s lines, reinforcing its contemporary aesthetic, while the nylon option offers a more traditional look. The matte black nylon features a ribbed weave that promotes breathability and is complemented by custom hardware. The mil-strap ensures security, even in the event of a spring bar failure. Both straps are easily interchangeable to adapt to different environments and conditions.

Powering the CVRT 3775A is the Japanese Miyota 9015 automatic caliber; selected for its reliability, precision, and slim profile. Operating at 28,800 bph, the movement features 24 jewels, hacking seconds, manual and automatic winding, quick-set date functionality, and a 42-hour power reserve. The solid case back provides protection with minimal markings, reinforcing the CVRT’s tool-first ethos.

Compact, legible, and performance-driven, the AVI-8 CVRT 3775A delivers high-spec functionality in an accessible package. Priced at $450, it brings true tool-watch capability to the everyday adventurer. Available to preorder through Windup Watch Shop and AVI-8, with delivery expected in December.

ABOUT THE AVI-8 CVRT PROJECT

What do you look for in a tool or GADA (go-anywhere, do-anything) watch? Specs? Size? Cost? Design? All of the above? That question was central to the challenge of developing a new line for AVI-8 Watches. Known for its fun, historically inspired pilot’s watches, AVI-8 wanted to expand into more technical territory while keeping its trademark approachability, in both price and personality. The goal was to create something distinct from its existing catalog, yet still true to the brand’s spirit.

Enter the AVI-8 CVRT 3775A: a tough, well-specced, full-featured tool watch with a contemporary, performance-driven design developed by Worn & Wound Creative Services.

With aviation in AVI-8’s DNA, inspiration came, if abstractly, from modern aeronautics and instrumentation. Hard lines, faceted surfaces, tactile textures, and precise typography inform its industrial sensibility. The design remains purpose-driven, with nothing unnecessary or ornamental. The 37.75mm case draws inspiration from classic field watches, complemented by a 46mm lug-to-lug measurement and a 20mm lug width. At 11mm thick, with angled lugs for comfort, it wears compact yet substantial and offers 100 meters of water resistance.

The dial continues this theme of restraint. Minimal yet legible, it favors clarity and balance over excess. Branding is kept subtle, while negative space is treated with the same care as the printed elements. The result is refined, readable, and quietly assertive.

Every detail reflects enthusiast input and experience. The steel case is hard-coated for durability, with PVD accents that reduce visual bulk. The crown at four o’clock minimizes both width and wrist irritation. C3 lume ensures maximum visibility thanks to its vivid green glow, while the reliable Miyota 9015 inside offers excellent performance for the price—28,800 bph for a smooth sweep, hacking and hand-winding for precision, and a quickset date for convenience.

At $450, including two straps, the AVI-8 CVRT 3775A represents exceptional value and stays true to AVI-8’s mission of accessibility. Creating a purpose-built tool watch that enthusiasts can appreciate—and afford—was deeply rewarding. As the first in a new line, the CVRT marks an exciting evolution for AVI-8, with more to come.
