QUICK RELEASE in partnership with Monbrey Watches

The New Monbrey Trinova Dazzles with Diamonds and Dials

This isn’t Monbrey’s first time around the block. The three-year-old brand has gotten off to a fast start, and we last covered the MB2 Kenkyū less than a year ago. Now they are back with the MB3 – Trinova. This third series watch carries certain design philosophies from the previous two while introducing new themes and ideas in a fresh package. Available in five variants, Trinova is Monbrey’s response to the growing interest neo-vintage watches and is the result of an intense focus on both the dials and cases.

The name Trinova references the three-sided hour markers – each with seven sparkling surfaces – and a nova, a star that erupts into brilliance. In the brand’s own words, the Trinova collection is both a “jewel of geometry and a star of light”. Indeed, it’s a name that feels apt with one glance at the dial and case. With the MB3 series, Monbrey is seeking to lean into the geometry of watch design, experimenting with angles and edges that best catch the light. Like the MB1 and Mb2s before them, the Trinova features Monbrey’s signature angular case aesthetic and pairs it with a fluted bezel. And those dials!

At the heart of every Trinova watch is a special dial that has been carefully crafted from natural materials: Charoit (purple), Bloodstone (green), Sodalite (blue), Burlwood (brown), and a standout Onyx. It’s clear that Monbrey is confident in letting the stones do the talking here, and that includes the four triangular-cut DVS1 lab-grown diamonds on the Onyx Edition. There is breathing room on these dials, which is evidence of a mature design. The restraint is just right, allowing the natural stones to have their day in the sun. In the same way, the hour markers are right in step with the watch’s elegant character.

The Monbrey MB3 is intended not only to be admired but to be worn. In true neo-vintage form, these watches are comfortably wearable at 37.5mm wide, 45mm long, and 10mm thin (including the sapphire crystal). Mechanically, the MB3 is powered by the reliable Miyota cal.9039 automatic caliber and comes with a 24 month warranty. The Trinova is paired with matching 20mm Monbrey x Monves collaboration Italian leather straps with tool-less quick release spring bars and, if ordered in a bundle, a charming five-link matching 316L steel bracelet.

Monbrey’s MB3 Trinova is indicative of a company that has found its groove. Intentional in its idea and execution, it offers a compelling combination of stunning stone dials, Goldilocks dimensions, and interesting case designs that were simply not available for a wide audience just a few years ago.
