Timex Collaborates With NN07 On New M79

Timex continues to flesh out their M79 collection with new partners and colorways, including this latest example which features a collaboration with Denmark based clothing brand, NN07. The M79 has always been an exercise in restraint compared to its quartz cousin, the Q, and this collab is no different. With a few subtle details, this is a design that brings some artistic sophistication to a watch with Timex written on the dial, which is not a sentence I find myself typing often. This is a limited edition, but the price is still under $300, keeping this one a core value proposition.

You can read my full thoughts on the M79 after going hands-on with the Huckberry limited edition right here, suffice to say I found the bulk of the automatic a bit off-putting as compared to the Q. I suspect that would remain the case here as the NN07 edition receives the same 40mm case that measures 14.5mm in thickness (insert shrug emoji here). The woven steel bracelet and its angular integration with the case still make it a fun and easy watch to wear, just a bit less so than the Q, which enjoys a 38mm case that’s just 11.5mm thick. C’est la vie.

The NN07 M79 receives a lovely blue diving bezel against a matte black dial. It’s simple, but effective, much the same as the apparel designed by NN07, which takes a clean, minimal approach to the classics. The brand’s navy dot appears in place of the regular hour index at 7 o’clock, joining the light yellow applications throughout the rest of the dial.

The NN07 brand logo appears at 6 o’clock on the dial above the ‘automatic’ labeling, adding an air of hip knowhow to the whole package. Like that underground band you saw that one time in a warehouse and got a t-shirt that no one else seems to understand unless they were there. A Miyota 8205 automatic movement runs duty on the inside, and the price is set at $299.

Just 777 examples of this collaboration will be produced, with sales beginning April 29th at 3pm CET (9a eastern). The watch will be available at nn07.com, nn07 concept stores, timex.com, nordstrom, end. clothing, and select European retailers. Timex // NN07
