John Beck McConnico, Founder of Bespoke Watch Projects, takes a unique approach to watchmaking that’s equal parts artistry and engineering. Nearly every aspect of the watches produced out of his Oakland, California studio is custom designed, manufactured, or modified by him. Featuring in-house engraved dials, modified Swiss movements, and handmade straps, John’s made-to-order timepieces are really nothing like you’ve seen anywhere else, while also retaining traditional watchmaking design and functionality.

We recently had the opportunity to (virtually) sit down with John and take a look inside his studio. During our conversation, we cover a number of topics, including how he came to watchmaking, how his visual arts background influences his watchmaking, and how he works with clients to produce one-of-a-kind watches.

For a limited time and in celebration of the Virtual Windup Watch Fair, John is offering a series of pre-built watches to Windup viewers and readers. Each piece has been assembled by John in his workshop. You can find the full collection of pre-built watches here.
