Watches on the Screen – the Omega Timepieces of “First Man”

The Academy Awards are Sunday night, capping the end of a long awards season. In that spirit, we thought we’d highlight a story from the Worn & Wound archives that takes a look at the watches of “First Man,” Damien Chazelle’s film dramatizing the life of Neil Armstrong. Of course, there are many, many Speedmasters in the film, but a surprising variety of watches are highlighted in this story from October of 2018. Chazelle’s film is notably meticulous in its period details, something that not every movie can claim.

Vox
Why Spotify and a Casino Bought The Ringer and Barstool

It’s been a big week for two of the most prominent new media companies to emerge in the last few years, with Spotify’s purchase of The Ringer (and its many, many podcast properties) and Barstool Sports being sold to Penn National Gaming, a regional gambling company (and, we imagine, big fans of on-the-street pizza reviews). Cole Pennington’s story is a great read not only for Seiko fans, but for anyone interested in science and exploration.

Brevitē
The Jumper

Finding just the right bag is one of life’s great challenges. It’s quite possible, in fact, that the right bag, a universal solution to every situation where you have to lug things around, just doesn’t exist. That said, there’s no shortage of speciality bags, that are perfect for a very specific task, and we think the Jumper from Brevitē fits the bill in that regard. This is a compact camera backpack that doesn’t scream “expensive photography equipment on board” and features plenty of convenient features for photogs on the go. The main camera compartment is fully padded and completely customizable, and there are quick access pockets for small items. The bag also comes in a wide range of colors, and sells for a very reasonable $119.
