G-SHOCK and HUF Collaborate on a Neon Green Anniversary Watch

HUF, the apparel brand specializing in designs featuring bright colors and loud graphics, celebrates their 20th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, they’ve released a limited edition collaborative watch with G-Shock, a brand they share more than a little in common with. Both brands owe a lot to skateboard and sneaker culture, and this new release pays appropriate tribute with a design that prominently features HUF’s trademark neon green colorway on the familiar GA-2100 platform.

The GA-2100, otherwise known as the “Casi-Oak,” has absolutely exploded in popularity since it was released just a few short years ago. While the watches share a passing resemblance to the shape of the Royal Oak, their enduring popularity has less to do with similarities to any particular luxury watch, and much more to do with the fact that it’s just simply a fun, wearable design that adapts well to different colors and materials. This also makes it a great choice as a canvas for a collaboration, and G-Shock and HUF have gone a long way in really rethinking what the GA-2100 can be.

For this edition, the outer minutes track has been rendered in bright neon green, while the interior dial is a more muted shade. There are orange accents throughout the dial, and the HUF logo appears prominently near the 3:00 position. The case is transparent resin and complements all the green quite nicely, but the real win here is the strap. On just about every other GA-2100, the strap is the standard, somewhat stiff, resin material that you’ll find on most lower priced G-Shocks. Here, the watch is paired to a fabric strap in an orange shade that matches those dial accents. It completely transforms the look of the watch, and you could imagine this giving modification ideas to current GA-2100 owners.

There are other nods to HUF and their history in this release as well. The neon green packaging features a map of San Francisco, where HUF got its start 20 years ago. And the caseback features a rather deep engraving of the HUF 20th anniversary artwork. The HUF logo can also be found on the tail end of the strap. Altogether it’s a rather cohesive package that we imagine will appeal to longtime HUF fans in particular.

The HUF x G-Shock GA2100 (the full reference number is GA2100HUF-5A) has a retail price of $140. G-Shock describes it as a limited edition, but has not disclosed how many have been or will be made. It’s currently sold out on the HUF website, but there’s an option to let HUF notify you when they become available.
