When it comes to shopping for vintage watches on eBay, it can be a gold mine, and it can also be a minefield. Our very own Christoph McNeill (you all might know him as Instagram’s @VintageDiver) wrote a must-read, common sense guide to buying vintage watches on eBay (check out Part 1 and Part 2). Today, we have another installment of eBay Finds, where Christoph highlights some great, affordable vintage gems looking for a new home. Happy hunting!

Listing: Alsta Nautoscaph 999 Feet Diver with Spiedel Mach 1 Band

Here’s a great find for all the vintage dive watch lovers out there—a 1960s Alsta Nautoscaph diver in absolutely excellent condition! With an original depth rating of 999 feet and a screw down crown, this was made to be a serious tool diver’s watch back in the day. It has a beautiful dial with great patina and sharp, lume filled hands. It also comes with an awesome period-correct Speidel band to boot. Powering the watch is a Swiss-made Felsa 4007N, a 17-jewel automatic mechanical caliber.

This one is close to the Alsta dive watch Richard Dreyfus famously wore in Jaws, but it’s not the same model. Nevertheless, this is a cool piece and it’s an auction worth keeping an eye on.

Listing: Wyler Incaflex Heavy Duty 660

Wyler is a great vintage brand that is largely undervalued today by collectors, and the Wyler Heavy Duty line has a large selection of styles, ranging from full blown divers to the sporty dress style like the one we have here. This steel-cased gem is a good size at 35 millimeters, and overall it looks to be in excellent condition (the crown appears to be original as well). The silver dial with stylized hour markers and hands is also really clean with just a touch of patina. The “Buy It Now” is more than fair for this one.

Listing: Bulova Caravelle 666 Feet Diver (For Repair Or Restoration)

This one is listed as not working, so you should only consider buying it with that in mind. Now having said that, these Caravelle divers are increasingly sought after by collectors and have therefore experienced a steady climb in value. If you have access to a trusted watchmaker and are willing to take the risk, then you might have yourself a real gem here after a little TLC. The dial and unpolished case are clean with just the right amount of patina and wear, so after this one gets to ticking you’ll be good to go.

Christoph (Instagram’s @vintagediver) is a long time collector and lover of all things vintage, starting with comic books when he was a kid (he still collects them). His passion for watches began in 1997 when he was gifted a family heirloom vintage Omega Genève by his step-father. That started him on the watch collecting path—buying and selling vintage watches of all sorts, with a special appreciation for vintage dive watches and Seiko.
