We have some exciting news to share.
Worn & Wound has acquired Lorier. Lauren and Lorenzo Ortega, Lorier’s founders, will remain partial owners of the business and retain creative stewardship of the brand, with Lorenzo serving as Creative Director.
The goal of this partnership is to unlock Lorier’s full potential, freeing Lauren and Lorenzo to do what they love most: designing great products and engaging with the Lorier community. In turn, Lorier gains access to Worn & Wound’s infrastructure of customer service, fulfillment, product procurement, logistics, and more. Together, we’ll scale operations to meet the overwhelming demand for Lorier.
This will take time. There’s significant pent-up demand for Lorier’s core line, and in one week we’ll be unveiling updated versions of some of the brand’s most popular models: the Hyperion, Hydra, Falcon, and Astra. We’ll be honest, we expect this run to sell quickly. But, rest assured, we’ll reinvest to increase production runs, rerelease other core models, and develop new lines.
Until now, Lorier was run solely by the Ortegas. They poured everything into it, building a remarkable brand and an even more remarkable community. But as demand for Lorier grew, Lauren and Lorenzo hit a crossroads. With their capacity tapped out, they either needed to find the right partner to help them scale or consider options for exiting the company. Thankfully, they chose the former.
We’re honored to be entrusted with Lorier’s ongoing growth. We’ve long admired what Lauren and Lorenzo built, we’ve enjoyed working with them over the years, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring our operational backbone to a brand with this much potential.
We put together a short video to explain what this means and why we’re so excited about it.
To that end, we’re thrilled to announce Lorier’s first new hire, Ilya Ryvin. Ilya will serve as General Manager, overseeing day-to-day operations and. If you’ve been reading Worn & Wound for a while, Ilya will be a familiar face — he was our very first employee, joining the team over a decade ago. Most recently, Ilya spent several years at Grand Seiko. His deep knowledge of the watch industry, his long connection to the Worn & Wound community, and the skills he’s built over more than a decade in this world make him the ideal person to lead Lorier’s next chapter.
This partnership is the product of years working together. Lorier could have taken private equity or sold to a conglomerate. Instead, we structured this acquisition ourselves. Two independent companies, no outside investment, no strings. In an industry where a treasured brand’s values so often get bent to an outsider’s will, we’re proud to have built something that lets both Worn & Wound and Lorier keep standing by theirs.
Our line is open. We want to hear from you, and we can’t wait to share what’s ahead. In the meantime, thank you for being part of the Worn & Wound community. You’re the reason we’re able to pursue an opportunity like this.
And to Lorier’s many dedicated customers and fans: we hope you’re as excited about this as we are. Thank you for your ongoing support of a brand we all love.
